Why I Love John McCain

Many here seem bent on casting at least half a vote (not voting Democratic = half a vote for McCain), if not a full vote for Senator John McCain should Hillary Clinton not be the nominee.

I too, plan on voting for McCain, and I wanted to share with you some of the reasons why I like him so much.

1. John McCain has been 100% against a woman's right to choose.

The National Right to Life Committee absolutely loves him.

"National Right to Life is also grateful for the strong pro-life voting record on abortion of Senator John McCain, and appreciates the pro-life position he has taken in his Senate campaigns and in this presidential campaign."

Other than stem cell research and campaign finance reform, he's never, ever cast a vote they didn't like.

He's every bit the theocrat that Huckabee is, he just hides it better and takes the state's rights position on marriage (John Hostettler also voted against it for the same reason).

2. Hundred years in Iraq.

Let's keep on throwing money and lives away.

3. Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

Because Iraq isn't enough.

4. Continued erosion of civil liberties.

Whatever it takes to keep us safe from the terrorists. Big Brother can watch me all he wants!

5. More deregulation

Laissez-faire never caused the Great Depression in the 1930's in the United States.

That was caused by, I don't know, communism?

6. Less money spent on crucial needs like health care and education.

McCain was one of the minority of Republicans voting against Senator Specter's amendment to increase funding for health care and education.

That's right. You think Trent Lott's conservative? Bill Frist? Conrad Burns? Pat Roberts? Rick Santorum?

McCain's far, far worse.

So bring on McCain! Mac is Back!

Note: I didn't mean a word I said here, but these are John McCain's actual positions. He makes Bush look moderate.

Re: Why I Love John McCain (2.00 / 1)

Well, that was fun. And do you realize that by nominating Senator Obama you pretty much assure that McCain will be the next president?

You folks have been gamed. It's sad, but here we are.

Re: Why I Love John McCain (none / 0)

If you say so, I'd like to know how at this point Hillary can win a large enough AA turout to boost her to victory, should she get the nomination through questionably calid votes and superdelegates?

Says you (2.00 / 0)

You have nothing to back up the Obama doom and gloom. You certainly don't have polls, especially recent ones which show phenomenal negatives for Hillary, and also with Obama generally out performing her vis-a-vis McCain.

Really? Obama's polling better than (2.00 / 0)

Clinton in California, New Jersey, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, North Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Nevada, Minnesota, Colorado and New Hampshire, and equivalent to her in New York. [equal or better in 209 electoral votes; all but New York are potential swing states as at least one Dem has polled within margin of error]

She's polled better in Florida, Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, Alabama and Massachusetts [at this point only OH and FL seem swing states; MO seems gone]

(these are all post-Wright polls, mind)

Re: Why I Love John McCain (none / 0)

Well, your comment doesn't really have much bearing on if people should vote for McCain in the primary.

Even if I accept your premise that Obama will lose in the GE, I don't see how that in any way means HRC supporters shouldn't vote for Obama, nor do I see how your premise means we should discount what the diarist is saying.

Unless your comment is just off topic, and you're just moving on from the diary, in which case please ignore my comment... :)

If so, no thanks to Clinton's practical endorsement of McCain.
